These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Roomie app and services, operated by Company ERM AL-HADITH For Information Technology (One Partner) (“Roomie”, “we”, “us”), based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. By creating an account or using Roomie, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Roomie.
Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information, and our Community Guidelines, which set out the rules for using Roomie. Both are part of these Terms.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Roomie. By creating an account or using the app, you confirm that you are 18 or over and that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement with us. Roomie is for adults only; see our Child Safety standards.
Your account
You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your login credentials secure, and to be responsible for activity on your account. Let us know promptly at support@roomie.cc if you suspect any unauthorized use.
What Roomie is — and what it is not
Roomie is a platform that helps people find compatible roommates and list available rooms. We connect members so they can decide whether to deal with each other — we are not a party to, and not responsible for, any rental, housing, payment, or other arrangement between members. Any arrangement you enter into is solely between you and the other person.
We do not own, manage, inspect, or guarantee any room, listing, or living arrangement, and we do not process payments between members. We are not a real-estate broker, landlord, or agent. Decisions about whether to meet, live with, or pay anyone are yours alone.
Identity verification
Identity verification is offered through our partner, Didit, and is optional — a member can choose it to earn a verified badge, but it is not required to use Roomie. A verified badge means a member completed that process; it confirms identity only and is not a guarantee of any member’s identity, character, intentions, or conduct. Always use your own judgement and do your own due diligence before entering into any arrangement.
Acceptable use
You agree to use Roomie lawfully and respectfully, and to follow our Community Guidelines, which form part of these Terms — breaking them is a breach of these Terms. They set out the full rules; in summary, you agree not to:
- provide false, misleading, or impersonating information;
- harass, threaten, defraud, or harm other people;
- post unlawful, hateful, or sexually explicit content;
- send spam or unsolicited promotions;
- use Roomie for any illegal purpose;
- attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours; or
- scrape, copy, or misuse the service or other members’ information.
We may remove content and warn, suspend, or terminate accounts that break these Terms or our Community Guidelines, which also explain how enforcement and appeals work.
Your content
You keep ownership of the content you post — your profile, photos, listings, and messages. By posting it, you grant Roomie a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, store, and display that content only as needed to operate and provide the service — for example, showing your profile to other members or delivering your messages.
This licence ends when you remove the content or delete your account, except for copies already shared with other members and any limited retention described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the content you share, and you confirm you have the right to share it.
Reviews
Members may post reviews about people they have connected with. You are responsible for your reviews and must keep them honest and lawful — no defamation, harassment, or false statements. By posting a review, you grant Roomie a licence to host, display, and distribute it within the service. Reviews become non-editable once they are revealed. Roomie may remove reviews that break our Community Guidelines or these Terms, but we do not endorse or verify member reviews — reviews reflect members’ personal opinions, not Roomie’s.
Safety and your responsibility
Roomie helps connect people, but you are responsible for your own safety when dealing with other members. Because you may be communicating with and meeting people you don’t know, exercise caution: take time to get to know prospective roommates, meet in safe, public places before making arrangements, inspect any accommodation in person, do your own due diligence, and trust your judgment. Roomie does not vet, endorse, or guarantee any member, and a verified badge is no guarantee either (see Identity verification above). Roomie offers a mutual contact-exchange feature, but sharing contact details — and any communication or meeting outside Roomie — is at your own risk and responsibility, and we are not responsible for off-platform conduct. You can report or block any member from within the app. For our standards protecting minors, see our Child Safety page.
Fees
Roomie is currently free to join and use. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will make the terms clear before you are charged, in separate billing and refund terms.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using Roomie and delete your account at any time. See our Account Deletion page for how to do it and what happens to your data.
We may warn, suspend, restrict, or terminate your access if you break these Terms or our Community Guidelines, if you create risk for other members or the service, or where required by law. Where appropriate and lawful, we will tell you the reason, and for enforcement actions you may be able to appeal as described in our Community Guidelines. Serious violations — such as fraud or threats to safety — may lead to immediate, permanent removal.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Roomie and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
No responsibility for member conduct
Roomie is a platform that helps members connect to find roommates and shared housing. Roomie is not responsible for the conduct of any member, whether online or offline. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other members, including any decision to communicate with, meet, or live with another member. Roomie does not conduct criminal background checks on members. Optional identity verification (the verified badge) confirms a member’s identity only and is not a guarantee of any member’s character, intentions, conduct, trustworthiness, or safety. Any decision to share housing, exchange money, pay a deposit, sign a lease, or enter into any other arrangement with another member is made solely between members and at their own risk; Roomie is not a party to and bears no responsibility for any such arrangement or its consequences. Always use your best judgment and take sensible safety precautions when communicating with or meeting other members.
Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. If a dispute arises, please contact us first at support@roomie.cc so we can try to resolve it informally.
Changes
These Terms are versioned, and you accept them together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines in a single combined acceptance. We may update the Terms from time to time; for material changes we will ask you to accept the updated version again in the app. Minor changes take effect when posted, and continued use of Roomie means you accept them. We will also update the date above when we make changes.
Entire agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any policies they expressly reference — our Community Guidelines, Child Safety standards, and Account Deletion policy — make up the entire agreement between you and Company ERM AL-HADITH For Information Technology (One Partner) regarding your use of Roomie, and replace any earlier understandings or communications.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or severed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will stay in full effect.
