You can delete your Roomie account at any time, directly from the app. This page explains how, and what happens to your information.
How to delete your account
- Open the Roomie app and go to Settings.
- Open your Account settings.
- Choose Delete Account and confirm.
If you prefer, you can also request deletion by emailing us at support@roomie.cc from the address linked to your account.
What happens next
Immediately. Your account is deactivated and your profile is hidden from other members. For the next 30 days, your account is recoverable — if you change your mind, simply log back in within that period to restore it.
After 30 days. Your account is permanently deleted, and your personal data is removed from our active systems promptly. This includes your profile, your photos, and your personal account information, and your login credentials are removed. To preserve the integrity of other members’ conversations, your past messages are anonymized — your identity is removed and shown as “Deleted User”, so the other person’s chat history stays intact without exposing your data.
Recovery windows. Before your data is fully erased, short, standard recovery windows apply at the infrastructure level: deleted media (such as photos) may be recoverable for up to 7 days, and database records carry only brief internal version history. Operational logs may persist for up to 30 days, and certain security or audit logs for up to 400 days.
What we may retain
If you completed optional identity verification through our partner Didit, the related verification data held by Didit is retained for up to 1 month and then deleted. Roomie itself does not store that biometric data.
After deletion, we may also retain a limited amount of information where necessary to comply with legal obligations, for security purposes, or to prevent fraud and abuse. Where retained, such information is kept in anonymized or aggregated form and is not used to identify you.
